Description

Please note building up these doors is a skilled process. We do not supply a manual on how it all goes together, you need to know how to do it, be prepared to learn how to do it, buy a workshop manual or give it to a speclialist who will be able to build these up for you. It is normal to have to fettle some parts to fit as this is normal when building any door up whether using secondhand parts or new parts. If in doubt we also supply these doors fully assembled by ourselves.

Pair Galvanised Push Button Doors & Customisable Parts Separate Fully Crated

Basically you are getting a pair of fully built-up front doors with all the parts separate to build them up. This means you can test fit them to your vehicle first, then prep & paint your doors & finally fit all the nice new parts to them afterwards to create the perfect finish.

What you get in this kit is the following:

BDA710020GALV
BDA710030GALV
SP870 (+Options)
SP871 (+Options)
Fully Wood Crated

BDA710020GALV & BDA710030GALV Information:

To fit all Defender models with push button doors between 1983-2006
We manufacture these ourselves in England spending a lot of time making these as accurate to the original as possible to ensure a great fit every time. The frame is steel which is hot dipped galvanised so will last a very long time indeed, in many cases these will probably outlast the rest of your Defender!

To finish this door off so it is the best you can get, the door frame is fitted with a zinc plated steel skin which not only increases the strength of the overall door massively compared with the original aluminium skin, but it is also a lot more corrosion resistant so you will not get the white bubbling corrosion you get with aluminium. Plus it is far more dent resistant .

Each component of the door is lovingly pressed and worked to create the final product that is our eyes is a work of art and designed to still be here in many years to come. We have always found it a shame to do nice work on a Defender, only to find out a standard spec door has already started to rust out within a couple of years, so you end up having to repeat the process all over again , hence why we make these ourselves and make the best possible door available.

In between the skin and the frame, we use marine bonding to stop the two surfaces rubbing together. This stops any drumming effect & makes the door feel a lot stronger & tighter all around.

Every threaded hole is clear of zinc and the hinges holes are drilled clear of zinc so this door is a straight swap over for your original part.

These doors are the exact spec of doors fitted to approx. 2001-2006 defenders

They are exactly the same in every way as 1984-2001 push button doors however the 2 lower mounting points for the inner window winding panels are in a different position. We have added a picture to show the difference. So for fitting this door to the earlier spec models we have made a bracket kit which allows for the fitting of the earlier pre 2001 inner panel to later doors. The best part is that it is a simple bolt on job utilising threaded holes already in the doors so to replace a pre 2001 door is still a nice simple bolt on job. The part number for our bracket kit is JWP520. You need one kit per door. You don’t need this for the second row doors

SP870 & SP871 Information:

This is the kit of parts you need to build up a pair of push button front doors for all push button doors 1983-2016 (both pre 2006 doors and post 2006 Puma doors)

You will also need the door card and male door card clips.
Comes with all the items in the photos, main items being the glass, inner panel and window mechanism alongside all the other parts needed to comeplte your door. Please note no other parts other than whats in the photo comes with the kit. However this is enough parts to build the door and is what we use to assemble complete doors.

Comes with the plastic trim parts you fit after fitting the door card such as window winder and bezel, interior grab handle and the pull handle surround and the interior button lock bezel. So is just the door card and male door card clips you need to fit.

The kit comes with the option of the small diameter lock push button door handle (for Defender 1983-2002) and also the option of the large diameter lock push button door handle. (for Defender 1983-2002). Or with the option of a blanked off push button door handle (normally found on central locking models)
If you do not know which you have just measure the lock diameter. The smaller type is 16mm in diamater, the larger lock 20mm

You get the items that are in the photo and comes with all the bits to have fully working doors

This is an alternative to buying the doors with all the parts already fitted which we have in our other items

Important note, you must not sand off any of the zinc coating on the skin before painting as this will remove the zinc coating and remove it corrosion resistance.
The zinc coating on the skin is perfectly smooth as it is applied electronically. Whoever paints the panel must be given the instructions to simply go over the skin and frame with Mordant solution / T wash which etches the zinc finish black and means the paint will properly adhere. You should then go over with an etch primer, then a high build primer and then finally your colour coats.
Do not sand the skin at all before any paint is applied.
